Just depends on the work the admin put in the censors section.
They "pick" the word to be censored or a "form" of a word censor.
System never worked well enough for my on my sites so I disable it.
Like you said, its pointless as all the bad words get let through, and
and ones that should pass through won't.
My favorite is urls..
For example. I cant tell you the name of my zl1 registry dot org
website. Lots of ways I can convey to you the name of the site..
ZEE EL ONE REGISTRY DOT COM..
or Z-L-1-r-e-g-i-s-t-r-y-d-o-t-o-r-g
but you simply can't type it in. See?
Many words work the same way.
If you got "the name of my site" I was trying to tell you,
try typing it in..you will see what I mean..
