it might gradually advance the timing after running premium for a while, but it wont be an overnight change. but thats true with any computer controlled motor, it will advance spark automatically untill it sees knock and will pull timing and start over. now if you re-tune the motor for premium you will see some extra gains
but the only beneficial thing it will do is put money in the gas companies' pockets.

Most of todays engines will reduce spark (via the knock sensor) if the octane is too LOW but if it requires "regular" putting "premium" will not increase the horsepower or torque.
