I have no idea who's right, nor am I going to take a bet... but the cars are different enough that the Iphone generation may lean to the ZL1 while more traditional muscle car guys will like the bragging rights of the GT500
Just have to wait and see.

That's actually a pretty good analogy. I'd used an android phone as the counter to the iphone. People who buy iphones do so more out of status, looks and ease of use. Android users tend to be more concerned about bang for the buck, more variety and mod-ability. They'll sacrifice form for function.
I see a lot of arguments of how the Camaro looks better, rides better, and gets noticed more. And the MR is touted as much more advanced, but really, it has more to do with comfort than all out performance. It's a more sophisticated package with an edgier look.
The Mustangs look is more conservative, and it sacrifices some refinement for simplicity and light weight with it's SRA. But it gets the job done, and does it for less money. And like the android, you can have it in many flavors, from a basic 6 cylinder for economy, or a performance package for more fun. Or from a basic 5.0, to a Brembo package, or a Boss for the ultimate NA fun. If that's not enough, move up to the GT500 in basic and top performance trims. Lots of options.
Good analogy.

We'll all see when the car is built and Ford issues the final specifications in a year of less, but I'll stand by my guess it is about the same weight as a ZL1. If it does come in only 30 pounds heavier feel free to humiliate me and my crystal ball with this post.

I'm just quoting this in case I have a chance to humiliate you later.
