I definitely agree. I work for a labor and employment law firm. We basically negotiate union contracts on behalf of the company. I know of countless stories involving pissed off UAW employees who were willing to sabotage cars on the line. Usually because a contract negotiation didn’t go their way. I know of employees who intentionally welded wrenches to inaccessible frame sections of cars to cause annoying rattles that nobody could find to fix, intentional bad wiring, anything you could think of has been done to American cars to help make them suck at some point.
Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing but respect for union employees and I hate to see folks like the Mole, who has worked for GM for 25 years, get screwed for something he didn’t cause. The UAW has the potential to change dramatically if GM goes bankrupt. Negotiations will be totally in the favor of the company and the unions will have to take whatever a bankruptcy judge is willing to offer.
