I you look at the before an after air space that the washer bottle is blocking you'll realize there is no way it can't be a big help.

The first pic shows the area clogged with a washer bottle. Very little if any air getting in. The next two show the big whole for air. Then realise that you cut an area on the inside of the grill for the scoop to grab air and direct it towards the intake.
