My Dad was a radio operator /gunner on Super Fortress B-29's flying over "The Hump" out of Karachi Pakistan (CBI Theater) into China until he went down in '43. The Blood Chit on the back of his flight jacket saved his life. I still have it. My Mom helped make TBM"s (Avenger torpedo bombers) at the West Trenton GM plant. I am so proud of them.

Mac I think you and I have talked about this before.
I've had the very distinct pleasure of flying channel guard in that harbor while my carrier was pulling in to Pearl....
I will never ever forget those 2 hours of flight time... being able to fly over the Arizona to see her sitting on the bottom... 2 hours of almost complete silence from the crew.... we barely spoke... We just didn't have the words to describe what we were feeling.
I've been there twice... It is IMVHO the most powerful memorial I've ever seen...
