I made this video last year before I installed a aftermarket sub into my car... Since I put a another sub in the trunk, I turned down the stock 6x9 speakers, so the rattling went away quite a bit. If I turn my Kicker sub up, it does rattle the deck lid some.
Your idea looks very good, something was needed to pull these pieces together so there was no room for the rattling to take place.
