The MT pro driver said the 302 was beating him to death and depriving him of the confidence the ZL1 gave to him. The numbers backed it up. The other thing we should consider is that we KNOW Ford was trying to deliver a knock out punch with the 302. Trouble is, GM didn't come with what they expected. So, some may say that Ford is always beating GM to the punch., but with these results, I'd say NOT!

I love what the tester in the MT article said about the two cars:

The Camaro clearly came out on top of this fight. Although the Boss 302 is probably the best Mustang ever built, it just feels and performs like it's a generation behind. Randy summed it up: "The Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca was my favorite American musclecar -- until today." It isn't the lack of power; it isn't the lack of amenities. It's simply a lack of technology. The Camaro is the benchmark for a new class of vehicle. Call it the Power Pony, the Warhorse -- the name isn't important. What is important is ZL1's on-demand attitude. Supercar levels of performance, with the daily driving comfort of a GT, wrapped in a nostalgic package.

GM did great on this. We KNOW they are coming with a 650HP "piece" soon. It might help them. What I am wondering about now, is "what" will GM actually do if they come with the Z28? That's for the other forum. But...it does show they have some good numbers to match from the Stang. I know this... the ZL1 OVER DELIVERED.
