I build my car for me and my own personal enjoyment and use. I could care less what other people think of how it looks or how fast it is. The only measurement that matters to me is how big of a smile I have when I drive it. The rest is just someone elses insecurities or inferiority complex and their attempt to project it on me or my posessions. I don't have any friends that think life/possessions are a competition; they're not my kind of people.

I have to agree.....To each their own.
If I thought my self worth, or my financial worth was soley judged on a my car, I damn sure wouldn't be driving a crapped out 4Runner as my daily driver. I mod my car the way I want it sound, drive, and look. I have several mods and have had my car on the dyno several times. Never bothered to register the exact HP numbers. Besides, when someone asks I sell it short and say about 450

. Maybe from now on I will add to my approximate number and people will think of me as more manly, or a better provider. I will admit, the adrenaline rush I get when I do race my car far exceeds the one I get watching it spin a couple rollers.
