In cases like this the bigger blower wins the war. Once you pass a engines natural horsepower ability using forced induction you then go to the blowers horsepower ability. In this case the GT500 has a bigger blower running the 2.3L Eaton set up while the ZL1 has the 1.9L. It clearly has the advantage. The advantage of more displacement on a boosted engine means you can run less boost and obtain the same power levels. Lower boost levels make fore a safer and easier to tune vehicle. A factory box stock car running 15PSI is pretty insane but the GT500 is all forged....that helps too.
I'm sure Magnacharger and Whipple will have upgrades available shortly have the ZL1 hits the market.
