in 1998, GM still held true to the idea that the Corvette could not be bested in horsepower by any other car in the lineup... with Cadillac going upscale (and uphorsepower), that ideal has changed... and with a Z06 at 505hp, and a ZR1 at 625hp, the idea that a Camaro might be offered with a 500hp engine is not out of the question... GM has already proven that a 400hp Corvette can outrun and out handle a 500hp Mustang, so why not offer a new Camaro with 500hp?
honestly, I doubt that we'll see anything other than a 450hp Camaro... it just doesn't seem likely in my head or in what I know about GM's design teams... but they've snuck stuff into the lineup before, so who knows?
