I'd change it now, at 12K it's muck.
Clutch type diffs shed tons of material from the clutch plates. And with only 1 qt of lube, it gets mucked up quick when the clutches are new and breaking in. That's why they have you change it early if performance driven, that will get the break in debris out. Then your good for quite a while.
Doesn't need it changed every 1500, just after the first 1500 to get the clutch material break in material out. Strain it with a coffee filter, you'll see what I mean.
