Tremec Response on TR-6060 Problems

Sorry for adding yet another thread on the Tremec shifitng but I think you guys will find the response the Tremec technician posted in response to the numerous Tremec problems with Challengers, Mustangs, Camaros interesting. My Tremec continues to nibble when shifitng from 1-2 especially when I push it. I think we should be able to shift at high RPM without any grind, so I continue to search for a real solution. A new high performance car should just shift better. The site is the Tremec forum: Tremec TR6060 Issues - Page 2 - Tremec Forums

The technican wrote the following on 1-30-2012:

Okay everyone, got your guns loaded? I apologize for the inexcusable delay in getting back to some of you. Please don't take it personally, though you may feel free to be upset with me if you like--I would be.

That said, let's try attacking this one problem at a time. Slobra, you and I spoke on the phone so we're all set. Hopefully you found the line kit you were seeking. And road chicken, your problem has also received a response. Additionally, since the product you're referring to is in no way related to the TR-6060, (other than the fact that they are both manual transmissions), I would appreciate it if you would leave your remarks in the appropriate forum.

IdealG, WarpdSpazm, and anyone else who has had difficulties with a TR-6060 equipped vehicle, I have some interesting information for you and some points to consider:

From the beginning of production through September, 2011, TREMEC had produced over 48,000 TR-6060s for the Camaro SS program alone (we do not produce the manual trans for the RS V6). If you take every individual TR-6060 problem you can find online and double it, I'll bet you $100.00 of my own money that you still have less than 0.5% of total production experiencing an issue let alone a warrantable failure. That is no way to imply that you are not having a legitamate issue, but there is nothing whatsoever "screwed up in the design of this tranny". And yes, that is my final answer.

Now... Onto why you may be having an issue. Several factors can play into the function of a manual transmission. These include but are not limited to: any clutch or clutch release-related component located ahead of the transmission as installed in the vehicle, any component mounted behind the transmission--including the shifter, and last but not least... The Driver! Unfortunately in many cases, this person is not as knowledgeable about the product, or as good at using it, as they like to think they are.

Please note, I am not telling you that you are dumb or a bad driver, or dismissing the notion that there may be something wrong with your transmission as delivered from TREMEC. However, I am asking you to take a step back and look at the entire picture before you jump on ANY forum to start bashing ANY company's product.

What exactly is your problem--a clash or grind, complete blockage from a gear, etc? When does the problem occur--is it engine speed or vehicle speed related? Under what conditions--hot or cold ambient temperatures, vehicle temperatures, etc? Have you made any modifications to the vehicle--FYI, even "un-related" changes like a throttle body swap can make a difference! What manual equipped vehicles have you owned or driven for an extended period before?

If any of you care to go through some of this with me step-by-step, please PM me and I will be happy to assist you to the best of my ability. However, please note that this is not a customer service thread. I am not a customer service agent (we have phone numbers and email forms elsewhere on the website for that). And if you own a TR-6060 factory equipped vehicle, you are not our customer--the manufacturer of your vehicle is. As performance minded enthusiasts like yourselves, we want to see you all get what you pay for and be happy at the end of the day. However, please consider that if you have an issue with the speakers in your new Cadillac, who do you call, Bose or your Cadillac dealer?

Thank you all. Again, my sincerest apologies for the delay. If you would like to discuss your issue further in greater detail, please let me know. If I can not personally help you, I'll do my best to get you with someone who can.

Regards,
TREMEC Nate
