Dealers lie, salesmen lie and ebayers lie. Not all of them all of the time but enough of them that nonsense like this "out of production" IOM auction shouldn't surprise anyone. First time I've ever heard of a sale guy claiming a color was only in the factory for a month though, that's some rather creative thinking.

GM and thus Fbodfather aren't really allowed to do that. Seems to me GM needs to work around this if they added a direct sales department for custom orders at MSRP-standard discounts, Saturn style no haggle pricing. The dealers wouldn't like it but it would be a small percentage of overall sales and they could still get paid a reasonable fee by GM for dealer prep and delivery. Annoying dealers trying to rip people off are the bane of every manufacturer, pissing off customers and hurting the entire corporate image whenever a hot new release comes out but a program like this would keep things somewhat in check.
