Cadillac needs a modern replacement for the formerly (20 years ago) Top Dog STS, and if they ask me for my vote, this new GS is gonna change some people's perspective. Missing only an 8-speed Automatic from being THE non-hotrod Mid-Size Premium Sedan, hands down. And, at the top-end fully-loaded level, priced 10+% less than any of the others... That's a tuff playground, but for Cadillac to be truly relevant, they MUST be at this dance... If Lexus can, Caddie can too!
Did I just say that?!

Teccccchhhhhhhhnically, the CTS would be the competitor for the E and 5. Also have to consider that the recently announced XTS is in the same size and could be considered an A6 competitor.
The new E is nice but kinda meh to me. The 5 is simply an outstanding car. Unbelievable fuel economy for the size, 31 mpg I believe. The new GS is intrigueing. Not sure I like the styling, but Lexus does a lot right.
Of those in your ride and drive, 3 likes the A6.
How was the interior of the Lexus? Anything new or exciting or just well done?
