Okay Folks, here ya go.
I did basically the same test with this Vararam'd car as I did with the stock one with the exception I did not do a hood open and fan on intake test. These findings are based on the average of the best and worst runs out of 5 back to back runs with the hood closed and a light fan on the grill area.
The temps at the intake manifold dropped anywhere from 14* to 24* depending on the location. Less drop at the inlet behind the TB and more drop at the rear. I saw anywhere from 1-4 degrees of KR on either run with the worst KR of about 5-6 degreees on the best BLACK ICE-olator run which you will see at about 5700 RPM.
Here are the comparisons of the averages. The mods to this car are a VMax CNC TB, Vararam, Flowmaster Mufflers and Trifecta Tune.
Without the BLACK ICE-olator:
RPM - RWHP - RWTQ
2500 - 111 - 232
3000 - 127 - 221.5
3500 - 150.5 - 223.5
4000 - 163 - 214
4500 - 187 - 218
5000 - 209 - 219
5500 - 217.5 - 206.5
6000 - 232 - 202.5
6500 - 244.5 - 197.5
6800 - 245.5 - 189.5
With the BLACK ICE-olator Installed
RPM - RWHP - RWTQ
2500 - 109.5 - 231
3000 - 134.5 - 235
4000 - 159 - 238.5
4500 - 200.5 - 234.5
5000 - 222.5 - 234
5500 - 236 - 225.5
6000 - 239 - 207
6500 - 250.5 - 201
6800 - 249 - 192.5
Average RWHP - RWTQ Change Adding BLACK ICE-olator
2500 - 2.5 less / 1 less
3000 - Gained 7.5 - 13
3500 - Gained 8.5 - 15.5
4000 - Gained 16.5 - 21.5
4500 - Gained 13.5 - 16.5
5000 - Gained 15.3 - 15
5500 - Gained 18.5 - 19
6000 - Gained 7 - 4.5
6500 - Gained 6 - 3.5
6800 - 4Gained .5 - 3
On the best Base Vararam run it looked like the converter flared at the hit of the throttle for some reason then settled down for some reason and caused it to show a better number and therfore the average up to 3000 RPM is quite close. Also on the best BLACK ICE-olator run it pulled about 5-6 degrees timing at 5700, as I mentioned earlier, which then made the aveage gains from 6000 RPM and up not as impressive. I think on top we could have picked up another 5-10 RWHP if the timing was steadier. But it is what it is.
As far as the dyno, both first runs were the best as they were the coolest as far as IAT's and coolant temps. Both had a non recorded base run first and then this run, IATs, started at 45-48*C and ropped to 32-35*C at the end. Coolant temps were about 95*C on both of these runs.
So in the end, at least on this car, very nice gains with the BLACK ICE-olator and fits well with the Vararam. get in on one of the last I have at $150 shipped as they will go to $169 shipped on the next batch which will be reay soon also.
Thanks.
