We're talking about the metered valve on the catch can right? If so...
The non-metered valve was/is offered as an option because some people were hearing a "whistling" sound with the metered valve. The "whistling" sound was/is the air going through the valve. There is no performance/real reason to swap the valves out, but if you hear the whistling and it annoys you then go for it.
