I just meant that Apple and Tesla both own their own stores and sell directly to the public (you didn't specify it applied only to car companies). However, Tesla is a car company. I wonder how they can skirt around the law?
The only thing I could find is that car manufacturers can't sell directly to the consumer via the Internet because of the law, but if the dealership's didn't exist then there'd be no franchises so how could you break them if GM didn't franchise any portion of its business?
However, as it stands the dealerships apparently contribute to A LOT of political campaigns and therefore have some...pull.
