This tells me that cracking can begin almost immediately once the total wind force on the facia (vehicle speed + head wind) gets anywhere over say 100 mph, and certainly well below 155mph. I would think that one long distance trip at highway speed, into a decent head wind, could cause this type of failure. certainly over time, with vibration and repeated use, there is a substantial risk of this type of failure even under normal use.
These cracks are telling us that this is a weak point, prone to failure, immediately at high speed, or over time, under normal use.
Wind testing alone may not have revealed the problem. It could easily be a combination of wind speed and vehicle vibration that you don't get in a wind tunnel. GM needs to look into it, discover the cause and come up with a fix.
And don't tell me its no big deal because it will be covered under warranty. That's crap. Who wants to have to take their car into the shop, have a new faica put on, new paint applied, maybe it matches, maybe it doesn't? Who wants that hassle.
That's like discovering that the engine will blow up after 10,000 miles. But don't worry about it, we'll fix it under warranty. Yeah right. Happy day.
If its a problem, fix it now.

I haven't been worried about any previous aspects of the car not being up to par with the competition, but this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. We haven't had very many serious issues that would have made the car seem inferior. This is one of those issues. I'm hoping that a solution becomes available very quickly.
