Hi, I can give you a long list of design flaws in my 1995 E36 M3. Most people would still consider it a very high quality car. These range from cracking on the coolant resevoir to weak rear shock mounts to impellers in the water pumps to roundels (the propeller symbol) delaminating and falling off. All of these items had to be replaced.

To be honest, the first thought that pops into my head (like a lot of folks) is that this would be some sort of cheap GM design and mfg., the kind they have been known for for 25 years.

However, given that it has only occurred on one car that is in the hands of a tuner who may have done anything to the car, we should probably wait and find out what actually happened. It sounds pretty fishy that a few high speed runs would have caused that sort of damage when it wasn't spotted in any other car before now. There's no telling what sort of abuse these guys have been putting that car through.
