Too funny.
Back to reality. Never let the car out of your sight if possible. Whenever in for service:
Do a walk around at drop off, and insist the car's perfect condition be noted on the the RO.
Put on the RO - No Test Drives Without Owner Present. Put same note taped to steering wheel.
Reach an understanding that if the car is damaged, the damager will need a ventilator to breathe.
The reality is it varies widely and is a crap shoot on what you will experience. I've met great technicians that have repaired cars perfectly, and I've met knuckledragging douchebags that shouldn't be working on a lawn mower.
I had a Z06 once with an air leak under the dash - cold air blowing in on feet. I get the car back a week later, no more cold air - great. RO said - resealed cowl. A few weeks later I see something hanging down by my feet... a used shop rag. I pull the hush panel down, the whole under dash area by the steering column had been stuffed full of various used shop rags and old carpet padding. "Corvette Trained" technician.
