You represent the customers that are guaranteed. That has traditionally never been enough to keep GM in business. Would you prefer getting your cars now and seeing GM fail or seeing GM sell cars so that someday you can get another new GM car that awes you as much as this one? As a business strategy, it simply makes sense to sell as many cars to enthusiasts as possible, but it also is necessary to promote to non-enthusiasts, and that is only possible if enthusiasts aren't the only ones receiving cars.
