depending on what state you live in "non-refundable" will not stand up in court. in some states it is down right illegal. even though they all still say it.
never ever trust a car dealers outright word. I have had them tell me so many lies. you have to buy and extended waranty to get a better intrest rate, deposties are non-refundable (not in oregon), MSRP is what we pay for the car, etc etc.
what I would do is just try to line somone up to take over the allocation cause that seems fair. I don't know you you put the deposite down I used my credit card because you can dispute the charge and your credit card company has plenty of lawyers on your side.
sorry to hear you have to give the car up though.
