Thanks for the responses and condolences. My understanding was that the mirror was damaged prior to unloading in Pamama City. The truck driver had apparently immobilized the flail appendage with duct tape to stop further damage during transport to Pamama City. My dealer offered to keep the car for 2 or 3 days until repaired or I could have it with the hole covered until the new mirror came in . He knew the first option was not going to be my choice. I agreed with the duct tape knowing that it was only for 2 or 3 days and it was not going to be sunny the next couple of days and thus bake that tape onto the paint. I, however, have heeded the advise of you guys and removed the duct tape and replaced it with Painters tape which I have rolls of in the shop. The tape residue was easily removed with OMNI AU cleaner which I use to prep and clean car parts prior to painting (its basically mineral spirits). No paint damage.
