The GM at the dealership probablly knows this, and you just have to make it clear that you will take it this far. It's BS that you have to do it, but it works. Its worked for me three separate times.
Don't give up on your car because some punk sales manager thinks he can cash in on this Camaro opportunity.

Exactly what I would do. These things are free and the dealer don't want the hassles and bad publicity.
