I think there is little question here that the salesperson employed at the time had the authority to act on behalf of the dealership in taking an order/ making a deal on a car for MSRP. It would be different if it was for some ridiculous discount. Furthermore if the dealership took a deposit then it is a binding contract, and for lack of any other paperwork that he signed, then the property changes hands at the publicly advertised price, which in this case is the MSRP. No one could reasonably expect to pay more. Should be no different than real estate. In real estate, once you put a property on the market at a certain price, you cannot refuse to sell it to a buyer if you get a full price offer. That's the law where I live. I realize it's different in California, but then a lot of things are.
All that being said, this is pure greed on the part of this dealership, and it needs a big fat light shined on it.
Is it just me, or does this feel like that girl you tried to hook up with in High School because she was drop dead gorgeous, the total package, but her family was a collective basket case, especially the parents? And no matter how wacky and horrible they were, the bottom line was the girl was irresistible? Yeah......
