I make automotive lighting for a living. Most headlamps the lens part is made of polycarbonate very strong stuff a rock a 100+ will not even put a dent in it. But if you clean your head lamps with glass cleaner(Ammonia=Bad) you will break down the molecules in the plastic and it will turn hazy over time also there is a "Hard Coat" on the outside with a UV protective coating if you buff that off your lamp will scratch easier and will turn white/yellow.
Only use sope and water on your lights.
Just go to wal-mart and get a kit to buff hazy headlamps just make sure what you get also has a UV protection built in to it.
Water on the inside yep thats a leaker. But just so ya know there is a vent hole or two on the bach side of the lamp just so ya know.
Look on the bright side if you had a Dodge your lamps WILL turn white because they do not pay for the UV protection just look around at any 4 year old dodge.
