When I took the last drive after the newly rebuilt trans after we installed the nine inch kit... I was pissed to say the least... Not at my builder, but at the trans... I told him that in no uncertain terms... I wanted the bellhousing, the shafts, the gears, the synchros, the case, the tailshaft housing, and anything bolted to or in the trans out of my car... FOREVER... I didn't want a single piece of it back... That turd (my builder)said he had a fix TEMPORARILY for me... He bought a brand new TR6060 from GM, the local Chevy dealer and installed it in my car... That's Customer Service at it's finest... HE BOUGHT it... He tried to tell me he needed to have a shop spare anyway... yeah right<<< dripping with sarcasm...
I remembered a conversation I had with GTAHVIT after he got back from PRI in Florida... so I contacted Chris, found a company and name and called this company... and several others... All of which were understanding and great help...

Or if this transmission doesn't fix my shifting issues...
not really...
I may look at a sequential or Faceplated trans if this one doesn't work... but I have utmost confidence it will....Could you imagine a 2010 Camaro with a Lenco and five or six shifter handles sticking up...

Oh my, that is so loaded with one liners I could fire off, but I'll leave it alone in the interest of this thread...
Back on subject:
Note the length of the tailshaft housing... and the fact that the shifter bolts directly to the housing... All of the linkage and mounting points are internal and as mentioned before, there are no external torque or flex forces placed on the shifter housing or internals, other than the drivers inputs...
Here is part of the deal with this one... note the length of the tail shaft housing...
The pivot point for the shifter is 3.5 inches further back than the stock shifter location... I think it's going to end up in a better position than stock for racing... Race cars have the steering wheels and shifters close to the body, not at arms length... It will require some internal modifications to the trans tunnel and center console... Pics will be forthcoming as the project progresses...
It will also require rebuilding, modifying the cross member trans support at the rear of the trans...
How extensive is that, I'm not sure yet... but we will make it work...
