I drove one on Saturday and was BLOWN away. The V6 is pretty quick, so the V8 must be EFFING SCARY! The trans shifted seemlessly, the iterior is amazing. People did QUADRUPLE takes looking at the VR LT1 I was driving. I hated the cloth seats, but was generally comfortable and felt snug and well encapsulated in the driving compartment. I test drove with a 20+ mph head wind - nary a whistle from either window. I turned the sound system off and told the salesperson to listen: NOTHING. "THIS IS A CAMARO??!!??" escaped Both of our lips at the same time!
What I took away from my drive (NO PICS it was red with an all black base interior serial number 104105 I believe):
-The V6 is a great handling, solid performer that would suit ALL of my driving needs perfectly. Would love to know what a twin turbo or SC setup would do to this car!!
-The car is solid as a rock. Seriously feels as if it was whittled from a single chunk of billet.
-I am 251 pounds and 5' 10" tall and the car fit me very well. Vision was EXCELLENT! I had NO issues driving this car in the short time I drove it.
-The car felt like an old freind, instantly. I was at home in this car. I searched for nothing in the car and really enjoyed my time in the car. Not a moment of worry about where anything was in the car.
-I NEED one. Want to drive in a leather seated version before I make my final decision...and perhaps a ride in a V8 is in order.
