Just FYI, Tom still hasn't gotten invoice by GM for my car...and it's been there since Monday the 4th....for 10 days now.
You might need to do like Killer did and talk them into letting you take the car w/ a dealer plate and you buy insurance on it. That's what they did for him. Seriously....if my car was at the dealer since the 4th and I HAD the opportunity to pick it up and they said "NO!"....dude...that would be worse than knowing your car is in area 51.

Here? ....it's going to be killer having to wait 10 or more days if you HAVE to. Let them know...see what they will do. If you buy ins on it, ....why can't they?
