I didn't mention that earlier, yes its if you own the car they need a court order. If you don't.... Obviously the insurance company will not hide that data.

If he really wanted to hide it that was his mistake, he shouldn't have accepted the payment. Sorry but you may have made a mistake and killed someone, face up to your actions.
