Of course the media will report the loss, and it will be a real loss this time. But this eliminates billions of dollars worth of costs each and every year. Their 'down payment' will be recouped within 10 years just from the savings. Next thing is to get the government to mirror Japans trade practices. They don't import American cars but they are fine exporting millions of them. Something sound a tad off about that to anyone?

And as for where GM is getting the money from, 75 years as the #1 automaker in the world. I imagine that they have a few bucks stashed away for a rainy day.
