1) Since when has a reduction in Total Final Drive Ratio (trans/diff/tire diameter) hurt mileage?

Total effective ratio drops by about 20%...which only improves economy, and adds the benefit of no shift in the 0-60 sprint. GG Tax is avoided...

2) The speed "when exiting a turn and entering a straight", is aka CORNER-EXIT SPEED...I didn't make this up, it's simply the proper road-racy term for what you described in unabbreviated layman's terms...
