There is a conversion you know and the parts can easily handle the power. Its not fear of money, those top shops have a unlimited budget to try and squeeze every last ET they can out of the car to be the fastest in the world. Same goes for the New Edge style Mustangs. Cobra IRS can be swaped into a GT and vise versa. There are hundreds of Cobras that swapped their IRS for a SRA because it was a drag oriented car. Were they just wasting money? NO. they were able to get much better 60ft times with the SRA. Just like any other IRS the Cobra IRS can be made to handle the power. Facts are the IRS is NOT better than a SRA for drag racing just as the SRA will never be as good for ride quality and road racing.

GM also went to a solid axle on the COPO camaro. Why develop a solid axle for such a limited production of drag race camaros when you have IRS already and it's just as good?
