This is a common misconception. Many cars come w/ no underhood insulation. The Ram air Trans Ams, 4th gen Camaro`s and others, not to mention a lot of the guys who build old muscle cars remove it and paint the underside of the hood and add chrome and other stuff to make it pretty. Plus i work as an Auto Insurance Adjuster and see all of this first hand. Nothing to worry about. Your paint will not melt...lol.. Its actually there to retain the heat in the engine bay to help the car warm up more quicly in cold climates, and for some sound deadening effect, not to mention if there ws a fire under the hood.

Regardless, if you keep the insulation or not you did a hell of a job!
