I'll give you this........a stock 2013 Ford GT500 is going to give a stock C6 Z06 (Z07 is a performance package for the Z06) a run for it's money in a drag race and to a Vmax run....662 HP will give you that. On a road race course with equally skilled drivers, stock for stock, the GT500 won't be even close enough to the Z06's rear bumper to read the license plate number....that's what 600 lbs of extra weight gives you.

Jamaal stated that the shelby is faster around a road course than the ford gt. The top speed of the ford gt is faster than the shelby. Though they stated with the shelby there was some reason they stopped at 202 I don't remember what it was but lets just leave it at 202. And the ford gt I think either beats or is the same as z06/z07. So no even with the 600 pounds of extra weight the shelby will keep up.
Now if your talking about lap after lap after lap lol well thats a different story. Heavy supercharged cars don't do well on road courses long term. So then yes probably as you say the shelby won't be able to read the license plate on the z06. Though they ran like 40 laps in Atlanta no problem on shelby's with the track pack. I wish they did a comparison to how long a shelby without the track pack could last before overheating. But for a hot lap the shelby will hold its own fine against the zo6.
But thats why I prefer the zr1. But with an upgraded interior since it sucks.
