I like what Motor Authority said about the GT500:
http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...00-first-drive
their comment confirms why I bought the ZL1. Sure, I could've waited a few more months and had the (Shelby) fastest muscle car in a straight line on the road (stock) but I bought the ZL1 mainly for looks (not too many people will argue with the fact that the ZL1 looks killer compared to the Shelby) and also fun factor. I probably won't make it to the drag strip in my car soon, I'll more likely hit up a road course before I go drag racing and the ZL1 with PTM seems to win in that regards compared to all the Shelby reviews I've read. Speaking of reviews, I didn't read one bad review about the ZL1 as far as the driver not feeling like they wanted to buy a ZL1 after driving one. The dual mode exhaust is perfect on the ZL1, some say the Shelby exhaust is too loud. I think in stock trim the ZL1 is damn near perfect. If you want to add on a few more ponies and go compete with the Shelby at the strip it doesn't cost much more, but I think for an autocrossing package/daily driver, the ZL1 wins hands down and I think that's what it was built for. Ford catered to the 1/4 mile guys who think life is all about a straight line and I think they scored an "A" on their project too.
MotorAuthority said that despite the Shelby being a rocket, they walked away NOT wanting to buy one, I guess speed isn't everything, a car has to have some soul to it

To each his own though.
