Just a few quick answers;
Yes, its worth doing! It looks really nice!
Performance wise, if you do just springs (and not bushings, sways, etc.) you will notice the ride is a little stiffer. You will lower your center of gravity so you will have less roll on turns, less upforce from wind under your car, better aerodynamic performance, which will produce less drag. Most of these things you will probably not notice much unless you track your car, but you will feel it at higher speeds.
