I haven't looked myself, but other people report that diesel is currently cheaper than 87. They suggest that the reason is that the refineries cranked up diesel production preparing for V8 diesel equipped half ton pickups but then the diesel pickups were canceled. I don't know if any of that is true, just repeated what was in a thread about diesel prices elsewhere.

CAFE is a political issue, but it can be discussed on its technical merits/concerns and such, without having to bring in partisan politics or any of the other more nasty forms of political discussion.

Good: "CAFE requirements will be too high, the Camaro might end up with a turbo 4!" "No, CAFE doesn't work that way, the rating scale is different and it's average for the whole fleet."

Bad: "President So-and-so and his Whichever Party always do Whatever to CAFE and it's stupid because it results in SomethingElse happening to the environment/sales/me."
