Also, anyone else thinking GM may have something big planned for the Camaro's headlights? Why have we still not seen the production headlights? It can't be that hard to make lenses/housings. Ah well, maybe it's wishful thinking. I really want unforgettable headlights. The rest of the car deserves more than regular round head lamps.

You DO realize that this is a pre-production car -- right?
The paint on pre-production cars isn't production quality-- and in fact, the sheetmetal isn't 'final' production -- the metal dies will be finessed up to the time we build final production cars.....and in fact, the cars are pretty abused -- so no one really cares.........
Back to the sheetmetal -- some of you will remember that we did a new front clip for the 98 model year. We scrapped a couple of thousand hoods (V6 and Z hoods were metal) -- because the dies were stamping the hoods -- and if you looked VERRRRRRRRRRRY closely under the right conditions -- it looked like there were two dimples in the hood.
We felt that was unacceptable -- and the dies were redone.
So -- don't worry about rough paint -- Beta cars always look like this.
As Camero pointed out -- headlamps and tail lamps are some of the last items to be finished.
Why?
Well -- consider that the headlamp gets a lot of air/salt/dirt/gravel/snow/mud/bugs/small animals/etc thrown at them constantly. We can't have them fail/leak/etch/etc -- so we put them thru accelerated testing in special labs.........not on the cars..........
Production headlights aren't done.
