I have had my 2011 Camaro for about 22-1/2 months and driven about 4,250 miles. Bought it because I like the style and also for long annual road trips between Canada and the states. Fact is, I have only driven the Camaro once to the states as I stopped my annual visits to family and friends. I also have a summer only 1998 supercharged Riviera (68,000) miles but no longer wanted to drive the Riv. long distances because parts have become so hard to find at any cost. Typically I drive very short distances 3-4 times a week (summer much less). When I do drive these short distances in the summer I mostly now use the Riviera because my mechanic told me it needs to be driven more (never been driven in snow and winter garaged). I don't need two cars but enjoy both the Riviera and the Camaro just because when I do drive them I enjoy them and keep both well maintained.
I am one of the old guys on Camaro5 and have been driving for about 45 years. I have enjoyed every car I owned. Because I am a low mileage driver no problem for me to keep a car for 10-15 years because I stay on top of both mechancial and cosmetic issues and because when I buy a car it is because I like the body style. Because I am a low mileage driver, now at age 61, my Camaro might be my last new car purchase and that was a consideration when I pre-ordered my 2011 Camaro. I drive it when I need it (including winters) and 15 years from now when I am in my mid 70s doubt the Camaro will have hit 40,000 miles. I will still like the body style and replacement parts hopefully will not be as hard to find as those on the Riviera (a very low production model and many parts are not shared with other GM products).
When I was younger, yes I enjoyed driving my cars just for the sake of driving. Now I only drive when I have to go from A to B, but I do enjoy my short drives in my two autos.
