I still don't really get why having a supercharger on a lower displacement engine is unfair....as if having an extra 0.8 liters was somehow fair.
If you wanted fair, you would need two identical displacement engines with the same basic setup. Then it would be a matter of who could design the best flowing heads/intake, who had the best camshaft grinds, and who had the most optimal bore/stroke while maintaining the same displacement. Then we could approach the concept of fair.
Besides, what about all the people who think the new Caddy CTS-V and Corvette ZR-1 are so bada$$? They are compared to N/A BMW M5s, and N/A Exotics respectfully.... is it unfair for these two GM creations to run F/I while some of their direct competition does not? The answer is simply "No".
I'm with a few others, price and market segment is the main factor for comparison. While the Mustang GT500 does outprice the Camaro SS significantly, the two cars share a large part of the same target market.
