I have multiple opinions about this.
1. 16 year olds are just starting to drive, so it is not a good idea to give such a high performance car to them off the bat. I wrecked my first vehicle at 17 1/2, that was a year and a half after I started driving - and it was a tahoe!
2. I think that if the parents bought it for the kids they are spoiled rotten and should earn it. I was never handed anything in my life. I borrowed my first truck from my parents which was an 89 blazer, I bought my tahoe with my own money and have been buying my own vehicles ever since. When you work to earn something you appreciate it more, so I don't know if the kids really appreciate the car like they should.
3. It is a kick ass car that anybody who earns it deserves to have. If those 16 year olds spent their life savings (wish I had allowances like that) to get the car - good for them! However, back to #1
