I do the same thing, in heavy traffic i leave it in first and don't even need to touch the gas at all, just let out the clutch really slowly. I love the torque on this car. @OP I've done the same thing in my driveway, and again on my uncles driveway and another time on a hill but the smell always went away after a minute or so. Like others have told me, I wouldn't be to worried about it, for smooth launches I've noticed between 1000 and 1500 RPM seems to be the sweet spot.
