I did 6 1/2 years in the food industry. I'd get my regulars....every week, you could count on them coming in same day, same time. They'd ask for me. It was a lot of fun.
But, you'd also get your total pricks. We'd have a family that would come in once a month or so and were TOTAL pricks. There would be an hour wait...people everywhere just waiting for a seat. They'd have anywhere between 4 to 7 people in their party every time. They would stand up front with everyone else and once a table got up, would just walk over and sit down. ....at a dirty table. Then, they'd complain that the table was dirty to other servers not even in the section and demand it be cleaned. They would get a busser and then go tell a manager.
Managers hated them....with a passion. The server waiting on them always hated it. But, managers took care of them since the restaurant never wanted to "rock the boat" and have corporate called. They'd run the server ragged....complain about everythying...expect everything for free. They were the types who'd eat their food and then complain it was too cold expecting it to be comped from the table. Every time...guaranteed.
Finally, one day...............our #2 manager had enough.
They came in, pulled their same shit sitting down at a table, complained about it being dirty, and out came the manager. (I'll never forget it...lmao)...
He walked right up to them, told them they weren't cleaning the table, could sit there as long as they wanted, but no one was going to serve them. He said the entire restaurant was sick of their games and the way they treated his staff. He said they were going to get up, go to the front, wait heir turn like everyone else, or they weren't going to be served. Furthermore, he said if they did stay, he wasn't going to listen to any complaints about anything or they would never be welcomed back into the restaurant again. That's the polite way to put it.
They did get up and went up to the front. Not a complaint for any of them.
Didn't see them for a long time after that. But it sickens me to see what people will do...how they treat others.
I had a guy treat me like total crap running me back and forth INTENTIONALLY one night...because he thought it was
funny. I totally knew what he was doing and played his game (killem with kindness). Got a $20 tip out of it too (on probably what was a $45 tab). Was it worth it? To be a smartass, yep!
Now....sorry to sidetrack!
Where's the damn SST?!?!?!
