If it were me I'd have had the 1000.00 run on my card to hold it.
Now, the OP did give him his CC to run if anyone showed interest in buying it to get it held. So the OP let it be known that he was going to buy it BUT any other salesmen looking at it is gonna show it not sold. Including the owner.
My guess is that the owner looked and it showed not sold so let his kid take it for whatever reason.
The salesman should have just run the card and listed it sold. IMO.
I put 1000.00 non-refundable deposit down. Dealers request of course as it was before production started but I would have anyway. I wasn't thinking of the dealer joy riding but NO WAY was I going to let my car get sold our from under me. Plus, I could track my car here.
