ok let me clear myself up. i am not one to keep a car stock and i try to get every bit of power out of my cars. my last 99 trans am had 450hp AT THE WHEELS. much different than 400 at the crank. the crank was easily putting over 500hp. my dads 05 vette doesnt even really impress me that much. i just feel that, for all this displacement, that we should be getting better numbers out of the cars. granted other mfg's are worse than gm (whats the viper a 8.0 v10 putting out ONLY500hp?) the zr1 is where its at and im glad chevy really got that car right. they need to pass on some power to the camaro. forget the old days and being scared of the camaro beating the vette. just do what feels GOOD!
Why bother following tradition if we're going to forget about the old days? Let's make the Camaro a 4x4 SUV and drop a 2.2 ECOTEC in the Corvette.

I'm sorry. I just think that the Corvette needs to be faster because it is Chevy's flagship. If we're going to have symbols around, we need them to mean something. We can't have Chevrolet's second tier muscle car passing the Corvette on the right. The Corvette is there for a reason. Besides, most of the car we buy as enthusiasts is the engine. The Corvette has a special place in Chevy's lineup, so it needs the top horsepower rating out of the factory. I promise you that the Camaro will be both underrated and easy to improve on the dyno. I expect a couple of companies to quickly release tuning that will get us another 15-25 horses out of whatever detuned motor we get. Plus, Magnaflow and Flowmaster will immediately release complete exhausts, K&N and AEM will hand us CAIs quickly, and we'll all be dying to see all the other stuff that comes out over time. I want 500 hp, too, but I refuse to pay for it out of the factory. The way GM is going to sell this Camaro in the 100,000 range is by beating the competition and fitting the competition's budget. If they beat the competition by 100 hp, they'll lose the budget part of the equation.
