Its time to stop using the price as the determining factor anymore. The price is the same once all is considered.
99 percent of all Z or GT500 owners wont track their cars anyways. It will be for highway challenges (not that I condone it) or dragstrip runs, or redlight takeoffs. So practically speaking the GT is faster 99 percent of the time out of the box for a cheaper price.

Anyone who cares about powertrain warranty should not mod. Its pretty simple. I hear a lot of wining about losing a warranty, the answer is simple. Don't mod then. I could give a rats a$$ about warranty, so the mod flood gates are wide open.
And, given the choice I would still buy the Camaro over the GT 500 because in my opinion its a way better looking car, and that is something you can't change. Performance (adding hp) is the easiest change a person can make, and the ZL1 chassis is far better than the GT500 anyway, so the choice is easy between the two for me.
