"The AIRAID does not ingest underhood air as it is enclosed when you close the hood. The AIRAID also breathes through the OEM scoop for true cold air. We utilize the hood as the seal so we can use allot larger filter with allot more surface area, which equates to more airflow, better filtration, and longer service intervals."
I for one did not consider the oem scoop sufficient to draw unlimited air from the outside. I have had my airbox removed and my front fascia off and the area is small and looks like a choke point. Of course I have no data to back this up but I am comfortable that MY intake has 100% unrestricted airflow and all from the outside of the engine compartment. jmo.
