Just my two cents--to me, it doesn't matter if the engine is a four-cylinder or a V8. It's still a Camaro, and I plan on buying what I can afford regardless. I've never owned a Camaro, and I will buy a fifth gen. (Always wanted one, just never had the chance.)
To me, that's what matters--that GM is trying to return a classic car to production, which will hopefully be a quality product that will be in production for years to come.
